Mind your word
Funny how the first words we pick up in a new language are always the curse words—and funnier, they almost always target women.
An insight that surfaced when an Indian, Brazilian and an Uruguayan walked into a bar. Hindi Hokkien or Spanish, we noticed that most of these colloquial insults refer to women or female genitalia. We shame women as "cheap" and emasculate men by calling them a "pussy" or "motherfucker"—never a "fatherfucker." That's why we launched MindYourWord, an initiative to expose and challenge the ingrained biases hidden in everyday language.

We transformed the website masthead into a live submission form, letting users share insults from their language. Each entry updated a live counter, crowdsourcing global insults to spark conversation about this ‘socially accepted’ behavior.
